Bourbon County is deeply connected to two of Kentucky’s best-known traditions: Thoroughbred horses and bourbon whiskey. The county was once much larger than it is today, and the historic region became known as “Old Bourbon”—a name forever linked with America’s native spirit. The population of this area is about 20,000 people.
Paris sits amid Bourbon County’s beautiful horse farms and combines historic architecture with a classic Kentucky small-town atmosphere. The great racehorse, Secretariat is buried at Claiborne Farm, a historic 3,000 acre thoroughbred farm. The community was renamed Paris in 1790 in recognition of France’s support during the American Revolution. City of Paris, Kentucky
