Georgetown combines a historic downtown and small-town character with one of Kentucky’s most important manufacturing centers. The community was once known as Great Crossings because of the buffalo herds that crossed Elkhorn Creek, and today it is home to Toyota’s largest manufacturing operation in the world.
Scott County offers a distinctive mix of horse farms, agriculture, manufacturing, historic communities, and easy access to the Lexington area. According to Kentucky Tourism, one particularly colorful feature is its Barn Quilt Trail, where more than 100 painted quilt squares decorate barns throughout the countryside.
